Privacy Policy
Effective October 17, 2026
Soldometer is built to run on your device. This policy explains the small amount of information that leaves it, and why.
The short version
The extension does its work locally in your browser. We do not collect your browsing history, we do not run analytics or trackers in the extension, and we never sell personal information. The only personal information our own systems handle is connected to your claim (account), stored as a one-way hash explained below. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe and ExtensionPay.
What stays on your device
Everything the extension computes and remembers is stored only in your browser's local extension storage, on your device:
- listings you view and the estimates shown for them (your visit history);
- prices you enter for profit calculations, and your settings;
- your watchlist and target prices.
This data never leaves your device, is never transmitted to us or anyone else, and is deleted when you remove the extension or clear its storage.
What our claim service receives
If you claim an account in the extension, the extension sends the email address you enter to our claim service (api.soldometer.com) to register your claim and return your claim number and tier. On our server:
- your email address is converted to a SHA-256 hash (a one-way fingerprint) and only the hash is stored, together with your claim number, tier, and the date of the claim. We do not store the readable email address on the claim service;
- the hash lets us recognise your claim later (for example, if you reinstall) without keeping a list of customer email addresses;
- the service also keeps a simple total count of claims. That count is public and is what powers the "founding spots claimed" number on our website.
The extension stores your claim details (email you entered, claim number, tier) locally in your browser so it can show your account status.
Payments
Subscriptions are handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe. Starting a free trial involves no payment. If you subscribe, your email address and payment are processed under their privacy policies. We never see, receive, or store your card number. We receive confirmation of subscription status (active, trialling, cancelled) so the extension can unlock features.
The website
soldometer.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare. We do not run analytics or advertising trackers on it ourselves. Cloudflare, as host, processes standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site, under its own privacy policy. If advertising is added to the website in future, this policy will be updated first, and the advertising slots will be labelled.
If you email [email protected], your message is delivered to our inbox through Cloudflare Email Routing. We use support emails only to respond to you.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your claim: email [email protected] and ask us to delete it. We will delete the stored hash. Deleting a claim permanently gives up the Founding spot or subscription attached to it.
- Access and correction: you may ask what information we hold connected to your email address and request corrections.
- Depending on where you live (including under Canada's PIPEDA and comparable laws), you may have additional rights over your personal information; contact us and we will honour applicable law.
Retention
Claim hashes are kept while the claim is active. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle the conversation and our records. Aggregate claim counts contain no personal information.
Children
Soldometer is a tool for people running or researching online businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change, and announce material changes on the website or in the extension before they take effect.
